Manhattan is laid out for the window shopper, with boutiques and shop displays beckoning passersby at every opportunity. This works well when you have the time or the weather’s fine – other times a shopping mall is exactly what you need to all your shopping done.
Fortunately, Manhattan is home to modern malls that are not only architecturally pleasing to the eye, but also have everything you’re looking for in one place. Check out the best shopping malls and plazas in Manhattan.
Across from the World Trade Center site, Brookfield Place maintains what existed in the area pre-2001: global commerce that drew diverse crowds. Today, it continues to welcome visitors from all over the world. The shopping place has taken full advantage of its location: waterfront activities, rooftop events, and an ice skating rink makes it more than just a retail destination. On the subject of retail, luxury shops like Gucci, Diane Von Furstenberg, Bottega Veneta all occupy space at Brookfield. Enjoy the marvelous atrium and fare from Manhattan’s best food court. 230 Vesey St., Lower Manhattan

Connected to Brookfield Place via underground passage, Westfield WTC is futuristic in its modernity. Its main feature is its stunning Oculus, modeled after a dove being released. Whether it looks like a whale skeleton to some or a dove in flight, its composition is stunning. Westfield WTC is almost overwhelmingly vast, so don’t hesitate to ask for directions if you’re feeling a little turned around. Make sure to check out the Apple Store at this location; an impressive 2-stories. Eataly is a favorite stop for many, as well as John Varvatos and Campers. 185 Greenwich St., Lower Manhattan
